FIFA, the criminal organization that runs world football, elected a new president on Feb. 26, replacing the extremely disgraced Sepp Blatter. Although Gianni Infantino is another Swiss national, who grew up some five miles from Blatter, and is the protégé of the equally disgraced Euro federation boss Michel Platini, he was viewed as the reform candidate, compared to Bahraini Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa. And the U.S. vote, switched to Infantino in the second, decisive round of voting, was viewed as a key factor in his election. So, that's probably a good thing, right? There were a variety of reform measures passed as well, but so far no new talk of reconsidering the 2018 World Cup in Qatar.

It's looking like a sweep in the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals for four Mexican teams over four U.S. teams: Querétaro disposed of DC United comfortably on Tuesday, as Santos Laguna embarrassed the LA Galaxy, 4-0; América and Tigres – each with an advantage going into the second leg – try to complete the sweep as we go to press.

The European Champions League Round of 16 will be decided the next two Tuesday-Wednesdays, March 8-9 and 15-16, with all games shown live on Fox Sports 1 & 2 at 1:45pm this week (except one at 11am on March 9), and 2:45pm next week, after daylight saving time starts here, but not in Europe... One more TV highlight, a DVR special: The north London derby, Arsenal at Spurs, is the first game of an NBCSN triple-header, starting at 6:45am this Saturday, March 5.
