The Longhorns softball team enters the 2012 season ranked 18th and 19th in the USAToday/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball preseason polls respectively and have named three seniors as team captains – third basewoman/catcher Nadia Taylor, infielder Lexy Bennett, and outfielder Courtney Craig. Connie Clark returns as head coach for a team that last year boasted single-season records in team batting average, fielding percentage, and stolen bases. Pretty impressive indeed. This bodes well for a successful 2012 campaign. The season gets under way with the Texas Classic. In addition to our Horns, the Cal State Fullerton Titans, Colorado State Rams, and UTSA Roadrunners will face off in the classic. Seems like the perfect time of the year weatherwise to take in a ball game. For softball/baseball nuts like myself, it's always a good time for a game.
