CodeNEXT Loses Another Manager
CodeNEXT project manager Jim Robertson steps down from his post after accepting a job with the city of Boulder two weeks ago

In the latest in a series of personnel shifts, CodeNEXT project manager Jim Robertson accepted a job with the city of Boulder two weeks ago. The move came a month after the project's executive lead, Matt Lewis, resigned in the midst of an investigation into his professional conduct (see "CodeNEXT Chief Quits," June 16). But don't expect that to affect any upcoming CodeNEXT deadlines, according to Planning and Zoning Department Director Greg Guernsey. He still expects to release a public draft of the code by January 2017.
Guernsey pointed to the staffers working in more than a dozen city departments to overhaul the land-use code as a reason the project will stay on schedule. The project is at a point, Guernsey suggested, where these leadership positions aren't as critical. While he will miss Robertson's contributions as a project manager, "one person doesn't write this code. That would be unbelievable. There are many people working on this," Guernsey said.
Robertson will stay on until mid-August, when Jorge Rousselin of the Planning and Zoning Department will take over as project manager. Guernsey is currently serving as executive lead in Lewis' stead, but the process to find a permanent replacement will begin soon. Until that happens, Guernsey said he will be more active in the day-to-day operations of CodeNEXT and will be more visible at meetings.
