Five Minutes of 'War'
Opening of Drafthouse Film's 'I Declare War' plus trading cards
By Richard Whittaker, 1:12PM, Sat. Aug. 31, 2013
If you read our review of I Declare War, you'll know it straddles a unique line between fantasy and reality. Now Drafthouse Films have put the first five minutes online, and released trading cards for its pint-sized action heroes.
The film, set against one hazy Canadian afternoon, brings back all those memories when playing games was as real as it gets. The opening sequence is now online at Vimeo, and to celebrate this weekend's theatrical release, there are also these old school bubblegum-style cards of the cast. Here's a couple of our faves, the untrustworthy Skinner (Michael Friend) and the ever-loyal Paul Kwon (Siam Yu), courtesy of artist James White.

Sadly, you won't be able to get your hands on them for real (even sadder, you'll have a hard time getting your hands on the vintage I Declare War action play set. So we recommend seeing the movie, then heading out and using your own imagination.
Although those cards are pretty sweet.
I Declare War is in theaters, and on VOD and iTunes, now. Read our review here and find showing times on our Film Listings page. Also, you can read our interview with star Gage Munroe and co-directors Jason Lapeyre and Robert Wilson here.
