Attention, film fans yearning for the Sundance Film Fest experience. You can catch the highly-anticipated short "Black Metal" by Kat Candler right here, right now. So crank up the subwoofer and let the screaming commence.
Shot around Austin at locations including the Minimax Crestview and the 29th Street Ballroom, it stars Jonny Mars (director of America's Parking Lot) and Heather Kafka (Lovers of Hate, Saturday Morning Massacre). As for the soundtrack, Corey Mitchell – co-organizer of the upcoming Housecore Horror Film Festival – was the metal consultant, which explains why the short features the none-more-black stylings of Vesperian Sorrow, Horned Almighty, and Pallbearer.
"Black Metal" is one of 12 shorts that Sundance has placed online in its YouTube screening room. However, if you are lucky enough to be in Utah right now, here's the full screening list:
Saturday, Jan. 19, 6pm, Broadway Centre Cinema 6, Salt Lake City
Sunday, Jan. 20, 6:30pm, Redstone Cinema 1, Park City
Wednesday, Jan. 23, 8:30pm, Prospector Square Theatre, Park City
Thursday, Jan. 24, 4pm, Holiday Village Cinema 4, Park City
