Mayor Leffingwell proposes Austin Keep It Batty
By Kimberley Jones, 7:47AM, Tue. Mar. 30, 2010
At a Tuesday morning press conference, Mayor Lee Leffingwell is expected to announce a proposal to make the bat the "Official Animal" of Austin. Bats in the belfry? Or just an elaborate move to get Adam West to town? Do we have to choose one?
The bat will be celebrated in an annual free evening concert, called "Night of the Bat," on the Congress Avenue Bridge. Adam West, TV's original Batman and star of the 1966 feature film, has plans to attend a matinee screening of the film at the Paramount and the Congress Ave. concert.
