Cleve Jones: Co-Director of the National Equality March
"I hope you all saw Milk. It was an extremely important film. Just so you know how hot I used to be."
By Frank J. Rivera, 3:32PM, Tue. Oct. 13, 2009
Cleve Jones has been an activist for the GLBT community for decades: fighting alongside Harvey Milk and creating the AIDS Memorial Quilt. There are few with more hours in the trenches or more to show for their efforts.
Although he headlined the following day's march, it was here – at Busboys – that Cleve Jones talked about our history, our present, and our future.
Jones has been a part of this struggle almost from its explosion into the national dialogue in the late 60s. Yes, he is an empowering speaker, but it's the gravitas his experience lends that makes his message all the more important.
