Democrats Attack Fraser on Voter ID Bill
Debate is underway in the Senate’s “committee of the whole” regarding the Voter ID bill. Democrats are peppering author Troy Fraser, R-Horseshoe Bay, with questions, which he keeps deflecting by saying that expert witnesses will answer those later. “But it’s your bill,” several Democrats have complained.

Missing the Point on Election Fraud
The Texas Civil Rights Project today criticized Gov. Perry and the Legislature for making Voter ID an "emergency" priority. TCRP director Jim Harrington brings up the usual points about disenfranchisement of minorities, but also brings up an even better one: Voter fraud is a really ineffective way to tip an election. Insider fraud is the real danger.

UPDATED: Combatants Gear Up for Voter ID
The Voter ID fight is on. The Texas GOP just notified followers that the Senate will hear invited testimony on Senate Bill 14 beginning Monday at 1:30pm and then public testimony 8am Tuesday. (UPDATE: Quorum Report is reporting that laying out the bill has been put off a day, and the bill likely won't be laid out until 8am Tuesday.)
