East Austin historically has the lowest voter turnout in Travis County. We received this press release for an event aiming to turn that around:

Early Voting Party in East Austin

October 21, 2008 (Austin, Texas) – Southwest Key's East Austin VOTA! Campaign is celebrating the end of a successful voter registration drive which surpassed our goal by 125 percent with a "GET OUT THE EARLY VOTE PARTY". Join us during this historic election and cast your ballot early at Southwest Key's East Austin Community Center (6002 Jain Lane – next to Johnston High School) on Saturday, October 25. Southwest Key has focused its voter registration and get-out-the-vote efforts in the lowest voter turnout precincts in Travis County.

Southwest Key will serve as an Early Voting Mobile Site all day from 10am-6pm on October 25. All registered voters in Travis County are eligible to vote at Southwest Key on that day. The early voters and community members will gather for a celebration during our "GET OUT THE EARLY VOTE PARTY" from 12 noon to 1pm sponsored by AARP of Texas while enjoying refreshments, music, dance and a celebration of the Emergence of East Austin's Political Voice!
