Texas Monthly has released its biennial list of the best and worst lawmakers from the just-completed legislative session, and the magazine rated Austin Democratic Sen. Kirk Watson as the "Rookie of the Year." In an early release of the list, TexMo says, "The former Austin mayor (and once and future statewide candidate) instantly earned respect for his intellect and diplomacy – and for knowing enough to let his elders take credit for his accomplishments."
None of the Travis County delegation made either the best or worst lists, but our neighbor Sen. Troy Fraser, R-Horseshoe Bay/Marble Falls, made the Worst Top 10. Honorable Mentions (for the Best list) were given to Rep. Dan Gattis, R-Georgetown, and Mark Strama, D-Austin.
