Spoon’s ‘Take Away Show,’ Bridge Farmers, and the Motards
By Austin Powell, 11:49AM, Wed. Feb. 2, 2011
Every episode of la Blogotheque’s Take Away Show is worth watching. The slipstream voyeurism by French filmmaker Vincent Moon and company captures indie bands in a light unlike anything else, casually cinematic and instantly memorable. Spoon’s recent taping might be my favorite to date. Click here to download the full session.
Spoon, “The Ghost of You Lingers” & “Got Nuffin”
Spoon, “Black Like Me”
Bridge Farmers, “Ummo”
Add Bridge Farmers to the list of excellent local metal bands ready break. For this week’s Austin Music Weekly, the Southern acid-metal fourpiece locks into “Ummo” at Red 7. Even you haven’t seen the Farmers live, the audio from the rest of the set’s definitely worth your time.
The Motards, “No No the Girlfriend”
Super Secret Records filmed the Motards’ blitzkrieg at Emo’s during free week. While not as volatile as their classic Sound Exchange footage, (though just as rough), for a band the Chronicle dubbed “Crash ‘n’ Burn Punkaholics,” these guys have held up pretty well.
