Austin's home for authentic Australian meat and veggie hand pies, Boomerang's, hosts a celebration from down under this Saturday, Jan. 26, noon-6pm.
The casual restaurant north of campus specializes in gourmet, handcrafted veggie and meat pies with a wide-variety of filling options. Made-from-scratch crusts house preservative-free ingredients in choices such as the vegan Thai Veggie pie, Traditional Beef pie, and Southwest Chicken. The pies are available fresh or frozen, at Boomerang's, online, and at Whole Foods Markets.
Aussie Day events include a Pie Eating Contest, a bouncy house for kids, a silent auction (including a Willie Nelson autographed guitar), and beer specials. And, of course, there will be pies...lots and lots of pies.
