Public Notice says, "Keep cool this summer and volunteer for a local public service organization.

The three big events this hot, sizzling pre-summer weekend are Project Transitions Texas Swing, the Lesbian Gay Rights Lobby of Texas (LGRL)-hosted Pride 2000, and the Danskin Triathlon. Texas Swing is one of PT's two annual Swing fundraisers. Raising much of the year's dough for the organization's many projects, Texas Swing, this Fri, Jun 2, 8pm, at Saengerrunde Hall, 1607 San Jacinto, features music by Alvin Crow. Check this week's Community Listings p.78, for a highlighted box with more info. Pride 2000 happens on Sun, Jun 4, noon, at Fiesta Gardens on Town Lake, with the annual Texas Pride Brunch, hosted by LGRL and the Austin Gay/Lesbian Political Caucus, 11am-1pm. The Danskin three-event women's race also takes place on Sun, Jun 4. Check the Community Listings for the particulars on these events.
