Seattle Sounders won their first-ever MLS Cup final Saturday night without managing a shot on goal over 120 minutes of regulation and overtime. They beat Toronto FC in a penalty kick shootout... Stanford repeated as NCAA men's champion, also in a PKS after a scoreless draw... Cristiano Ronaldo won his fourth Ballon d'Or award as the top player of 2016, after leading Real Madrid to the Champions League title, then leading Portugal to the Euro Championship this summer. He and Lionel Messi have now won the last nine such awards... Ronaldo can add one final trophy to his haul at the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan. His Real Madrid is facing Mexico's Club America in a semifinal early Thursday morning; the winner will face Japan's Kashima Antlers in the final this Sunday morning, Dec. 18, at 4:30am on FS1. The J1-League champs are the first Asian side to make a CWC final, and they did so in part due to another milestone, the first penalty kick awarded on the basis of video replay.
