Round Rock Express Fire Relief Aid
The Express pitch in to help victims of the Central Texas fires
By Mark Fagan, Fri., Sept. 9, 2011
The devastating fires raging through Central Texas are surreal, yet all too real. There are numerous relief efforts in progress and the Round Rock Express is pitching in to help those affected by this disaster. The Express is partnering with the American Red Cross of Central Texas, and as of yesterday, the Dell Diamond has become a drop-off location for clothes and household items to be donated to the victims of the fires. Drop off your goods at the Express team store, the Railyard, from 10am to 4pm weekdays and during playoff games. Anyone who was displaced by the fires will be granted free admission to tonight's PCL American Conference Championship Series game vs. the Omaha Storm Chasers (proof of residency is required at the ticket booth). The Express recommends donating sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, towels, shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, plastic utensils, paper plates, cups, napkins, spray deodorant, disposable razors, shaving cream, baby diapers, baby wipes, baby shampoo, and hand sanitizer. Game one of the series is occurring as we go to press.
Vs. Omaha: Thu., Sept. 8, 7:05pm. Dell Diamond, 3400 E. Palm Valley Blvd., Round Rock, 512/255-2255. $6-30. www.roundrockexpress.com.
