... Saturday, April 1, at the Alamo South Lamar (1120 S. Lamar). The documentary celebrating The Life and Music of Ronnie Lane does so in grand fashion, as "directors Rupert Williams and James Mackie paint a portrait of a man so in love with making music that even multiple sclerosis can't get him down," our Josh Rosenblatt wrote during SXSW Film 06, during which the feature-length film made its world premiere. It features Lane himself, who died in 1997, as well as his brother, Stan Lane; fellow Small Face, Face, and Austinite Ian McLagan; bandmate Kenney Jones; best friend Pete Townshend; Eric Clapton; Jody Denberg; Jo Rae Di Menno; and other friends, family, and collaborators, in interviews culled from 100 hours of footage. For more on the film and the upcoming week's opening festivities, see "TCB." For a review and show times, see Film Listings.
