Fright Nights

As a cinematographer, Janusz Kaminski has lensed some of the most acclaimed films of the last decade, including Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan, but his directing debut looks more like Stigmata than Spielberg. In Lost Souls, Winona Ryder plays a woman who assists priests during exorcisms, during which she discovers the devil's next victim -- a defense attorney played by Ben Chaplin... Geoffrey Wright, the writer/director of Romper Stomper, brings us the teen slasher/sex romp Cherry Falls, about a killer stalking virgins in a small town... Evil never dies, and neither does John Carpenter's slasher franchise. The indie auteur bowed out of Halloween H2K: Evil Never Dies (he is working on the upcoming sci-fi thriller Ghosts of Mars), but Jamie Lee Curtis returns... The Attic Expeditions is slated for a Hallow's Eve release, but this tale of "madness, murder, and the fragile nature of reality" will have to compete with Blair Witch 2 and Halloween: H2K if it hopes to scare up any audience. The cast includes The Re-Animator's Jeffrey Combs, Seth Green, and Alice Cooper... In Urban Legends: Final Cut, things get fishy during the filming of a student movie about those fabled urban legends the college kids so adore. John Ottman (Lake Placid) directs this nonsequel sequel.
