Remember the Titans

Drama Queens

Denzel Washington plays Coach Boone, the new football coach at the recently integrated T.C. Williams High, who must battle prejudice from the white man he works with (Will Patton) and the team he must unite. Remember the Titans is the first release from Jerry Bruckheimer's "kindler, gentler" Technical Black division... Spike Lee's Bamboozled posits a black television writer (Damon Wayans) so desperate for a hit that he proposes the return of blackface. Savion Glover (tap-dancing wonder of Broadway's Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk) stars in the minstrel show-cum-American sensation; Jada Pinkett Smith co-stars... Oscar winners Cuba Gooding Jr. and Robert De Niro star in Men of Honor, directed by George Tillman Jr. (Soul Food) and based on the true story of Carl Brashear, the first black diver in the Navy... James Ivory assembles another talented and fabulously dressed cast -- including Uma Thurman, Jeremy Northam, Nick Nolte, and Angelica Huston -- for The Golden Bowl, an adaptation of a rare Henry James novel... Antoine Fuqua, the director of The Replacement Killers, takes a sophomore swing with Bait, which stars Jamie Foxx as an ex-con who lures criminals to the cops... Joel Schumacher tones down his famous style in favor of substance for the coming-of-age historical drama Tigerland, named after the Louisiana boot camp that was the last stop for recruits before shipping off to Vietnam.
