Ice Cream Man Presents!
Friday's Flavor: The Pipettes
By Matt Allen, Fri., March 16, 2007
Today we're down at the Levi's Fader Fort slinging cream to passersby and folks waiting to get in. When I looked at the lineup for the day, I noticed it was being kicked off by Brighton, UK's Pipettes and I instantly thought they'd make a great flavor of the day.
Somehow I got lucky and ran into my friend Andrea who happened to be sitting next to their publicist who worked out a quick photo shoot after their set. My first thought, outside of how cute they are, is how much work it must be to not only sing, but dance like the classic Fifties girl groups during their whole set. There were lots of doo-dee-doos and hand claps, and as I bopped back and forth, I looked over the crowd to see if anyone else was getting down. I wasn't surprised to see the Bresnitz brothers leading the inner circle dance party with their hands in the air.
When the lovely ladies came out to the truck, we all turned into giddy schoolboys, including crew member James who served up a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Bomb Pop, and Drumstick to Becki, Gwenno, and Rose.
If you're down for a good time and classic tunes, check them out today, Friday, at the Pitchfork Party at Emo's, 12:45pm. If we can find a parking spot on Sixth Street or Red River, we'll see ya there.
