Holiday Cards From the Austin Music Scene

Photos by John Anderson, John Carrico, and Todd V. Wolfson

It was the money shot, and it lingered in my head and on my desk for weeks after it ran in the Chronicle issue of September 28: Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis with their son Deral Otis. The family portrait, shot by a master of local portraiture, Todd V. Wolfson. There it sat, smiling up at me from among the clutter until one day, it sang another tune: Holiday card. Thus we let Wolfson loose on his favorite stomping ground, the local music scene, and brought in our other favorite music-scene chronicler, John Carrico, to shoot us some "family" scenes for the holiday season. Chronicle staff photographer John Anderson proved the ringer, assigned one shot only -- the one that landed on the cover. Here then, to ring out a difficult year with smiles and familial warmth, season's greetings from a small cross-section of the Austin music scene. Happy holidays.
