Re: “Parking requirements” [“Public Notice: Slouching Toward CodeCRONK,” March 22]: Requiring a school to hire only pedophiles sounds pretty crazy, as does requiring a police department to hire only felons, and an airline to hire only blind pilots. Yet the City’s mandating large numbers of parking spaces makes no more sense. More spaces will induce more driving which will worsen traffic and create more greenhouse gases – two things which Austin decidedly doesn’t need.
