Dear Editor,
I'd like to thank T. Lynn Mikeska for her review of Mary Moody Northen Theatre's
ANON(ymous) [
Arts Listings, Nov. 17]. Plays like this one are incredibly important for providing insight into unique perspectives about complex issues like immigration. Seeing the way that immigration is handled could teach the play's viewers a great deal about not only the policies surrounding immigration but also some of the common themes behind the personal narratives of victims of xenophobia. This makes plays like
ANON(ymous) incredibly valuable to a college community like St. Edward's where we are all still learning exactly how to think for ourselves. I am glad to see that this play received some attention from
The Austin Chronicle, as fine arts can be an incredibly effective format for teaching others about complex issues, and plays like
ANON(ymous) deserve all the attention they can get.
It is always important to consider all sides of an argument before coming to a conclusion, especially about issues, like immigration, that could potentially affect millions of people. I would love to see more plays like this one at St. Edward's and other college campuses.
