Dear Editor,
I live on Finley Drive, which is one of about 15 residential streets that feeds directly into either 45th or Bull Creek Road. None of these streets have sidewalks. Our streets were designed in the 1940s and were not built for traffic.
The ARG developer states they will create a “connected” community, but Finley and other neighborhood streets will simply become cut-through streets. In addition, there is no public transportation serving the Grove. Neighbors living near the Grove won’t want to walk or bike along busy, congested streets. Those living farther away can’t even take public transportation. The reality is that the Grove’s “connectivity” simply means the ability to drive on neighborhood streets to get between MoPac and the development.
The Austin City Council should accept the amendments proposed by Council Member Leslie Pool ["
Groveling Continues Over Grove," News, Oct. 21]. Please decrease the commercial and retail footprint, which generates the most car trips.
