Boot Camp Challenge
A sports blogger and his beer belly enter boot camp

I just turned 40. I'm recently single and have no kids. I'm 5 feet 7 inches tall and weigh – according to the scale at the Chronicle which many female employees claim is inaccurate, figure that – 196 pounds fully clothed (including hat). And it's "resolution" time of year so you know on the top of my Resolutions '09 list is losing weight now that I'm back out on the market. I've made some attempts lately to eat healthier, drink much less, and exercise but I fear I'll slip back into my bad habits as the month of January fades into February. I need some help. Enter Boot Camp Challenge.
Next Monday – at 6am! – I'll join trainer Brooke Norris and my fellow boot campers for the first of 18 sessions at Town Lake under the MoPac bridge near the water coolers. Three a week for six weeks with a duration of one hour. As their website notes, "These camps are created for people of all ages, fitness levels and those with special concerns to participate in and successfully achieve their fitness goals."
It's not too late to join me in my quest to shed some pounds, feel better about myself, and attract a comely mate. Click here to learn more and to register. And please stay tuned to the Score as I relate to you all the ups and downs of living the boot camp lifestyle over the next six weeks while we track my plummeting weight and keep tabs on my morale.
