The Austin Toros prepare for their season opener with two (free) preseason games

Toros Host Preseason Games

Austin's own NBA D-League squad and Spurs affiliate, the Austin Toros, is hosting two free preseason games as they prepare to defend their 2007-08 Southwest Division Championship. Austin will face the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Wednesday, November 19, 7pm at Eastside Memorial High School (1012 Arthur Stiles Rd.) and then the Colorado 14ers Sunday, November 22, 6pm at Bowie High School (4103 W. Slaughter Ln.). Admission to both games is free; donations to the athletic booster clubs of both schools will be accepted in lieu of an admission fee.

Fans will see some familiar faces returning this year to the Toros' roster including Spurs assignee Ian Mahinmi, as well as Serge Angounou, Eric Dawson, Carldell Johnson, and Marcus Williams. Charles Gaines and Malik Hairston join the Toros after taking part in the Spurs training camp. For local flavor, Marshall Brown (LBJ High School) and O’Neal Mims (Reagan High School) have joined the training camp roster.

Mark you calendar for the Toros season opener Friday, November 28, 7:30pm against the Utah Flash at the Austin Convention Center (500 E. Cesar Chavez). For season and group tickets, call 236-8333 or click here.
