Lady Longhorns Advance to Host Portland Sunday

The UT Lady Longhorns snuck past host Connecticut on Monday winning 3-1 in the penalty-kick shootout, after playing to a 1-1 tie through 110 minutes of regulation and overtime. Defender Kasey Moore tallied the Horns' only goal in regulation, with an assist from fellow defender Stephanie Logterman. The game was originally scheduled for Sunday, but delayed a day due to heavy rain and wind.

At this point, the Horns' No. 1 seeding kicks in, as they get to host Portland at 1pm Sunday in the Round of 16. And, I'm guessing, if they get past the Pilots (who beat host Utah on Sunday to get here), the Horns will also get home-field advantage for the next game, on Thanksgiving weekend – most likely against UCLA, who plays host to Florida.
