A distributor and a release date (okay, a release year) for the long-awaited picture from American master Terrence Malick and starring Brad Pitt.

When the Leagues wrested back control of the Alamo Drafthouse brand in the beginning of summer, we assumed there’d be expansion. But who woulda thunk it would be into film distribution?

Oh, the anticipatory horror. With just 14 days to go until Fantastic Fest 2010 engulfs the Alamo Drafthouse, we thought it'd be a good (nay, awesome) idea to bring some of you newcomers up to speed. But how best to do that?

The reigning royalty of B-movies Roger and Julie Corman will receive the "Syfy Imagine Greater" Lifetime Achievement Award, and they're bringing their new feature Sharktopus with them.

Once we learned that Brad Pitt would be coming to town (or, more accurately, Smithville, which is close enough to Austin when it comes to basking in celebrity auras) to film Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life, everyone wondered about the plot, which Malick, in usual fashion, played very close to the vest.

Talk about martial arts fight choreography and you're talking about Yuen Woo-Ping. That's why Fantastic Fest is giving him a lifetime achievement award. Not only will Master Yuen attend this year's festival, but two of his films will be shown: His 1978 directorial debut Snake in the Eagle's Shadow, and a gala screening of his latest epic, True Legend.
