SXSW Heads Down Under
Shorts programmer to curate for St. Kilda festival
By Monica Riese, 3:21PM, Wed. Apr. 3, 2013
It's April, so it's OK to start talking about new South by Southwest programming, right?
Don't freak out just yet; we're not talking about SXSW 2014 – though it'll be here before you know it, we promise. Rather, SXSW has teamed up with the St. Kilda Film Festival, which runs May 23-June 1 in the suburb of Melbourne, Australia.
Twitchfilm reports that SXSW shorts programmer Claudette Godfrey is curating four programs for this year's festival in St. Kilda: "two best-of selections, and programs devoted to Texas shorts and music videos."
Indeed, those categories seem to parallel some of the SXSW programming, and that's not the only thing the fests have in common: The Australian festival is celebrating 30 years of shorts programming in this year's event, and SXSW just marked another big anniversary.
The full program hasn't yet been announced, but you can follow up on Godfrey's choices when it's up on the St. Kilda Film Festival website.
