Austin Planetarium Hosts Star Trek Premiere Party

Trekkin out with Richard Garriott and the Austin Wind Symphony

Austin Planetarium Hosts Star Trek Premiere Party

The other day, we got an email from the Austin Planetarium, and our first reaction was, Wait, what? Austin has a planetarium? That's awesome. Well, not quite: It started as an exploratory committee and has since matured into a nonprofit that's doing its darndest to get a planetarium to Austin. ('Cause seriously? That would be awesome.)

You can show your support for the plan – and hang with other Trekkie fans – by buying a ticket to the Austin Planetarium sponsored Star Trek premiere party and IMAX screening next Friday (May 8) from 6 to 9pm at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. (The film screens at 9:30pm.)

Party highlights include: a performance by the Austin Wind Symphony featuring "Music From the Final Frontier"; a Trek costume contest; a performance by Start Trekkin (Austin improv group); and a raffle for a chance to win a Zero-G flight from Space Adventures with Richard Garriott.
