XBRMNT's Top 10 for the Week of Dec. 1

Oh I got stuffed for Thanksgiving! And dinner was good, too! ;-) Dandy and I stopped by Charlie's for a bite and a nuzzle before settling in at Ming's Cafe for a huge Thanksgiving spread by Fai and friends. I was still tasting the pumpkin pie on Monday night but managed to get out and spin some tunes at a brand new start time: 9pm. Here were my faves this week. Enjoy!

1. "Stealing All Day" – C.C. Adcock This track makes me feel dirty. A Louisiana native, Adcock is a Continental Club veteran and most recently has appeared on the soundtrack for the "HB-homO" series, True Blood. Take a listen.
2. "Under Suspicion" – Angel Discovered by KISS bass player, Gene Simmons, this Seventies androgynous glam band (take a look at their outfits here)were originally ridiculed for their feminine looks by critics when they hit the scene. They never let it stop them though and they actually have a new record on the way. See... It does get better!
3. "Tender Is the Night" – Jackson Browne This was a request tweeted in by Chef Graham Elliot in Chicago. Elliot, an ally who is very aware of his "gay bear" following, recently mentioned in an interview he'd like to open a restaurant in Austin. Sounds yummy for my tummy!
4. "Hard Time in the Land of Plenty" – Omar & the Howlers Local Blues belter Omar Dykes plays the Saxon Pub on Saturday night at 8pm. Omar sold over 500,000 of his debut for Columbia which included this title track.
5. "Glitterboots Saved My Life" – Saucy Jack & the Space Vixens Taking a nod from a Spinal Tap quote, this musical is one I've always wanted to see Dave Steakley and Zach Scott tackle. Take a look at the opening scene from the original cast.
6. "Tony" – Patty Griffin Tuscon Pride's LGBT artists got together in a hotel room and covered this classic tale of bullying ending badly by local songwriter, Patty Griffin. Austin Pride: take notes!
7. "Easy Lover" – Phil Collins I think the audience is my favorite part of this live video for this tune.
8. "Seventeen" – Winger Animator Mike Judge reportedly made lead singer, Kip Winger's life a living hell by making Winger and his band the butt of many, many jokes in his series Beavis and Butt-head. Regardless, I personally caught Winger live three times and yes, I owned a T-shirt.
9. "Neither One of Us (Want To Say the First Goodbye)" – Gladys Knight Two words: classy lady. Gladys makes you believe every single word in this live version of the song shot in 1973.
10. "Woman to Woman" – Barbra Mandrell XBRMNT spins songs like these and much more every week at Chain Drive's Manic Monday at 9pm.
