Thank You, Madam Secretary
Hillary Clinton comes out in support of LGBT
By Kate X Messer, 1:17AM, Wed. Oct. 20, 2010
Oh, Hillary, I was just thinking about you today, and here you are, popping up in my inbox, sending encouragement and love to LGBT kids and kudos and respect to your own LGBT staff. In these tea-bag tippy-toeing, tap-dancing times, your directness and clarity are beyond refreshing. They kinda take me aback.
Today, I put my Gay Place column "to bed," as it were, and you factored into it in an odd sort of tangential way. (It's "get out the vote"-themed, but we'll wait 'til Thursday to read it, okay?) Then, late tonight, I turned on my computer, and lo and behold, this video created by you and your staff is all over the 'tubes. In the pall of the recent gay teen suicides and in the spirit of Dan Savage's It Gets Better video campaign, you sent us love.
Thank you, Hillary Clinton. You always have our backs, don't you? Because, ultimately, you know how good the practice – not just the concepts – of "liberty and justice for all" is for our country, don't you? And you, dear lady have always counted us as "all."
This video can be found at the U.S. Department of State's YouTube channel.
