APD Officer Wounded; Civilian Dead

An Austin Police Department officer is wounded and a civilian is dead after a disturbance led to a shootout this morning (April 3) outside Frank & Angie's Pizzeria on West Sixth Street.

Neither of the individual's identities have been released.

The shootings occurred at approximately 11:30am after APD responded to a disturbance in the restaurant's parking lot. The civilian was declared dead on the scene. The officer was transported to a nearby hospital, where they have been declared to be in stable condition.

The block of 400 West Avenue is completely roped off at the moment as various members of APD and the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office work the scene. Police Chief Art Acevedo is expected to provide a press briefing two blocks south of the incident within the hour.
