City And Streets Closed for Presidents Day
Livestrong Marathon diversions this weekend
By Richard Whittaker, 1:55PM, Fri. Feb. 15, 2013
So if you're not taking part in Sunday's Livestrong Marathon, you may want to steer clear of Downtown. Or pretty much anywhere between Morrow and Ben White, Exposition and South Congress, for the duration of the race.
The city warns that there will be street closures for the duration of the race, from 7am to 3pm on Feb. 17. You can see the full map for the first post-Lance Armstrong Livestrong Marathon and half-marathon at the city website (download the PDF here). Find out more about the race itself at www.youraustinmarathon.com.
And here's what's open and closed at the city on Monday, Feb. 18 for Presidents Day:
Closed: City Hall, all council offices, the Business Solutions Center, libraries, plus recreation, arts and cultural centers, museums and senior centers.
Open: Zilker Botanical Gardens, the Austin Nature and Science Center, City-operated golf courses, and Stacey and Deep Eddy pools.
And all trash, recycling and yard trimming collections remain the same. Don't forget, out by 6.30am, and leave a five foot gap between cans. Happy day off, if you're having a three day weekend.
