-A Texas State Senator proposed a bill to outlaw straight party ticket voting.
-Black Swan received a record 12 nominations in the Critic's Choice Awards, the modern predictor to the Oscars.
-A 17-year-old who took school children hostage in France was detained and all kids are safe.
-And finally, an Institute of Medicine study says large amounts of calcium and vitamin D aren't exactly essential.
