Sharp Takes the High Road?
Senate hopeful says lay off Hutchison, man

U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison's solid thumping in her gubernatorial bid by incumbent Rick Perry has naturally led to much clamor for her to uphold her promise that she would resign her seat after the primary, win or lose. One of those who would like to replace her, Democrat and former State Comptroller John Sharp, says give her some space:
"A lot of partisan politicians in Washington are asking Kay Bailey Hutchison to do what is best for her political party instead of what may be best for her family or Texas. That is the whole problem with Washington, they all think – both sides – that their party is more important than individuals or their country. We should all respect her enough to step back and allow her make this decision."
Wow. Is there something I'm missing here, or am I just too jaded to believe sincerity from a politician?
