The Contemporary Austin Wants to Celebrate You
Membership hath its privileges, and right now they’re even better

Yes, the Contemporary Austin is this city’s only museum focused solely on contemporary artists and their work, and they want to celebrate you.
[Note: Austin does have plenty of galleries, excellent ones, that are focused solely on contemporary artists – but this is the only bona fide museum that does so, capisce?]
They might not celebrate you quite the way they’re celebrating the late Daniel Johnston right now, with that great show and new mural and all, but, listen: The Contemporary Austin offers an ever-changing series of exhibitions, a variety of expert-led educational opportunities, and “events that start conversations and fuel the city’s creative spirit,” and they do it in the Jones Center that’s Downtown and in the gorgeous lakeside environs of Laguna Gloria.
You knew that already, right?
Now also know that, if you become a member of the museum, then you can reap the extra rewards currently in effect through February 20: Discounts on items from the museum shop and tickets to the Austin Film Society, the Austin Symphony's Masterworks series concerts, and Ballet Austin’s Her Stories performance. Also, a free, nonalcoholic beverage from Spread & Co. and an invitation to a members-only tour – both at the Laguna Gloria location.
That's some member-appreciation, all right, and we reckon it's a good deal all around. Because, yes, it’s life that’s short and art that’s long … but you’ll probably be around for a while yet, right? Good idea, then, to soak up as much of the current culture as you can while you’re here. And with what the Contemporary Austin has going on, ah, it’s definitely a good way to do that.
