Join Local “Spellers”, The Austin Chronicle and Threadgill's on May 19 for the 9th Annual Austin Chronicle Spelling Bee and Help Raise Money for the Austin Public Library
Are you an unparalleled orthographer with a penchant for bacchanalia? Then it's time to put your currency where your orifice is and enter The Austin Chronicle Adult Spelling Bee! On Thursday, May 19, the Spelling Bee will take place at Threadgill's World Headquarters and begin with all contestants taking a spelling test. Those spellers that place in the Top 50 will be asked to take another test in hopes of making it to the final stage and competing in the official Spelling Bee! It costs only $3 to enter, and all proceeds benefit the Austin Public Library. This year's proceeds will go toward building the downloadable book collection, so every dollar counts towards this exciting new collection at the Austin Public Library. Dust off your dictionary, and start practicing, as participants will receive great prizes but more importantly raise money for a great cause. Former Spelling Bee winners and representatives from The Austin Chronicle will be the Spelling Bee judges for the evening. Come on out, and support Austin Public Library!
