1) Participants with Occupy Austin and others attend and speak at a rally at the Texas State Capitol on January 19. The rally was in support of SCR 2 and HCR 21; bills introduced in the Texas Legislature to overturn the Supreme Court decision, Citizens United in an effort to regulate the expenditure of money in politics. The rally was organized by Occupy Austin's "End Corporate Personhood" working group and coincided with the anniversary of the Citizens United decision. The bills died in committee at the end of the legislative session.
