Eric Lee Ray died while in custody of the Travis County Jail on Monday morning at approximately 2:26am. Ray, 53, was arrested for trespassing onto an estranged family member's property. The sheriff's office said that no evidence of foul play currently exists in the case, though a final determination won't be made until the Medical Examiner's Office is able to complete testing.

The Texas AFL-CIO has a new president. At last weekend's annual convention in Austin, current secretary-treasurer John Patrick was selected to lead the statewide federation of unions. He replaces retiring president Becky Moeller, the group's first-ever female executive.
Donald Trump Swiftboated Sen. John McCain by claiming he couldn't be a Vietnam War hero because he was a POW. Fellow Republicans have condemned the smear (which echoes similar assaults on then-Sen. John Kerry's war record in 2004), but Trump still leads in GOP presidential primary polling.
