Rollins Studio Theatre at the Long Center

701 W. Riverside, 512/474-5664
The Long Center intended this small, black box-style theatre to be a flexible venue for diverse types of performances, and in that it’s succeeded. From just its resident companies, patrons can enjoy classic drama (Austin Shakespeare), contemporary tap dance (Tapestry Dance), theatre for young audiences (Pollyanna Theatre Company), and musicals old and new performed by high school and college students (Summer Stock Austin). The 229-seat space capable of multiple configurations hosts many other local and regional artists as well, along with edgier national and international acts, presenting dance, storytelling, improv, cabaret, and more theatre. A 2015 highlight was “The Bowie Project: A Rock & Roll Soundpainting,” a multisensory collaboration between Andrea Ariel Dance Theatre and David Bowie tribute band the Super Creeps.
