In the off-with-her-head department, the successful Dallas restaurateur who is chef/owner of the new Jasper's (11506 Century Oaks Terrace #128; 834-4111) in the Domain is Kent Rathburn, rather than his brother, Kevin, who operates restaurants in Atlanta. And because Erin Flynn and Skip Connett farm in two separate locations, their business is styled Green Gate Farms instead of Farm. Contact them at [email protected]. As always, I regret the errors My two new favorite food business names have both sprouted up recently in the UT campus area. Look for French/Japanese fusion dishes at the new Fusebox (2025 Guadalupe #152) on the ground floor in Dobie Mall. We've heard good things about the seared tuna and niçoise salad. While you're in the campus area, cruise by the corner of 24th and San Antonio, and check out Hey, Cupcake!, where self-taught baker Wesley Hurt is busy selling perfectly delightful cupcakes out of a little hut with a cupcake on top. The clever entrepreneurial idea is generating plenty of media attention Hurt was the subject of a news feature in The Daily Texan when he opened last week, and a Fox 7 news crew was there filming when I stopped by. Vanilla and chocolate cupcakes ($1.85 each) are decorated with a swirl of frosting and sprinkles, and the menu includes milk, bottled water, and ice cream. Hurt plans to add other flavors of cupcakes in the future Congratulations to Hugh Fitzsimmons of Thunder Heart Bison (right) in San Antonio, who won a Gallo Family Vineyards Gold Medal Award in the Outstanding Meat and Charcuterie category. Fitzsimmons proudly displayed the award banner at his booth at the Texas Farm to Table event during the recent Texas Hill Country Wine & Food Festival where chef Terry Conlan was serving delicious tostadas made with Thunder Heart meat Drop by your favorite Chuy's outlet in Austin, Round Rock, Dallas, Houston, the Woodlands, or San Antonio between now and April 25 to help them celebrate 25 years of Mexican food, hubcaps, and velvet Elvis paintings. All locations will be serving a limited-time 1982 Platter chock-full of some of their most popular specialties, as well as Silver Anniversary Margaritas in commemorative cups. They'll also be selling limited-edition commemorative T-shirts and offering chances to win a trip for two to Cancun or one of 25 $25 gift certificates. ¡Feliz Cumpleaños! Our wine writer Wes Marshall is one lucky guy. While he was in New York last weekend judging a Burgundy tasting, he found time to catch some jazz greats at the legendary Blue Note one evening and attend a sold-out Allman Brothers concert the next Kudos to Chronicle contributing food writer Claudia Alarcón, who just won an eGullet travel scholarship to further her research on a book about Brazilian foodways.
