Dear Editor, I am deeply disappointed by the recent actions of former President Trump, Sen. Marco Rubio, and the vice president regarding their meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Their gaslighting of the American people – framing Ukraine as responsible for its own invasion by Russia – is not only morally reprehensible but an insult to the intelligence of every citizen who values democracy and sovereignty. This position is a disgrace, and we should be marching on Washington to hold our elected officials accountable. Beyond foreign policy, I am appalled that the struggles of everyday Americans are being ignored. People are losing their jobs, facing rising costs, and watching their quality of life decline – all while political discourse is consumed by defending or vilifying billionaires. The focus should be on working people: ensuring families can thrive, workers have dignified and supportive jobs, and everyone can afford housing, food, and the basic joys of life. Instead, our current administration seems determined to dismantle these fundamental rights. We deserve better. We cannot sit idle while our leaders rewrite history, side with dictators, and undermine the very principles our country was built on. We should be uniting – not as Democrats or Republicans, but as Americans – against those who betray our values.
