Dear Editor, Having come to Austin in the early Eighties for the music and an education, I was part of a crowd that was fortunate enough to have so much live music available that purchasing records did not cramp my student budget. When I graduated in 1983, I visited the new Tower Records and was overwhelmed by how much music I might have been missing and scared by how much it might impact the wealth from my newfound job. Little did I know that another 1983 UT graduate was just getting started on fulfilling the desires of a burgeoning Austin community's need for new and great sounds. From station to station and from the jingle-jangle of the Byrds' 12 strings to Fear of a Black Planet and beyond, Jody Denberg has graced the Austin airwaves with his musical prowess and variety. He has given us all more headspace because of the magic in his mind and saved shelf space because he has kept us musically current way longer than Tower Records, while always keeping the past within reach on the other turntable. For 40 years, Jody has kept Austin music lovers both satisfied and curious. He started in Austin and now airs around the world. It's been a heck of a trip. Thanks for the jams brother!
