Home Slice Pizza really voted best pizza in Austin. Guess none of the voters didn't try EAST SIDE PIES. HSP is touristy and for the uneducated palate.
Most of the restaurants voted the best are from the high social society community and not from the working-class locals. For instance, restaurants in the North Lamar area you will not see the same people or yourself eating there as you would in Fonda San Miguel or Odd Duck. Point I'm making is the voting is coming from a type of community that doesn't know of restaurants in the urban areas and locals do eat at.
Good food is good food, but seeing the locations of these restaurants tell that the voters are only eating the same areas. They're playing it safe and not eating at urban restaurants where the locals eat like Tres Amigos, East Side Pies, First Chinese BBQ Restaurant, Phở Phong Lưu, and Sandy's Hamburgers.
It's a very white-washed voting.
