Dear Luv Doc,
Thank you Lu♡ Dr for a wonderful 9/24 bit of wisdom. ["
The Luv Doc: The Secret Eyeroll"] You always make me smile, and more times than not, laugh out loud.
You’re brilliant on your spins, side track journeys, and deep messages of goodness.
You’re a master.
Dear Editor Jones,
Before I read anything else in your Sept. 24 issue, I read Robert Faires's farewell, "
Last Bow of an Accidental Critic." I have always read Mr. Faires's pieces with great interest and satisfaction, because he has always had something interesting to say and because his knowledge, point of view, and superb writing skills always satisfy and always teach. It is amazing that he has been with the
Chronicle for more than three decades, a tenure for which all Austinites who are interested in the arts in general and the theater in particular are grateful.
However, I next turned to your letter from the editor, "Hats Off to a Maestro," and was very surprised to learn that Mr. Faires actually has been with the Chronicle for "nearly 30 decades." How is it that he thinks he's been there for a mere 30 years and change, when, according to you, he has been the arts editor for nearly 300 years? All I can come up with is that, given that he's about 325 years old, he has probably lost track of time. As he says, "I can't say the time just flew by--no, I've really felt all those years, every damn one." I'll bet he has. I just hope that, for his sake, it hasn't been a case of "every year was better than the next."
