Not Even Nostradamus

RECEIVED Tue., May 18, 2021

Dear Editor,
The current Texas legislative session has clearly revealed Texas Republicans' goals in governing: Crawl into children's drawers. Crawl into women's vaginas. Insure that everyone can carry an unlicensed firearm with which to kill innocent civilians and members of law enforcement. Insure that only Republicans can vote. Not even Nostradamus could have predicted the depths of depravity to which the members of the once Grand Old Party have sunk. We desperately need all of you people moving to Austin and Texas to register to vote and help us kick these degenerates out of office.
Hopeful that good may someday prevail,
Kent C. Anschutz

It's Not Journalism; It's Feedback

RECEIVED Tue., May 18, 2021

Dear Editor,
I just read Chris Mosel’s letter in the Feedback column in the May 14, 2021 edition [“No More Hand-Wringing”]. I’m sure I’ll get the Freedom of Speech sermon so I give the You Can’t yell FIRE in a movie theater response. You publish this TRUMP SUPPORTS SHOULD BE ERASED dribble to do what? Bring us together? So a Liberal hater sends in his response to Feedback with equally inflammatory language. You going to print that too? And to what end? s this helpful? Is this journalism? By printing Mosel’s letter you are siding with everything that is wrong with the media. But I understand. ANYTHING for selling that ad space. ANYTHING for clicks. Despicable.

TPEA Here to Say

RECEIVED Thu., May 13, 2021

Dear Editor,
State employees are essential Texans who deserve attention to the issues concerning their livelihoods. The Texas Public Employees Association appreciates the Chronicle's balanced coverage of SB 321. We would like to clarify a statement in Ms. Reeves' article, which states: "One group, the Texas Public Employees Association, supports the bill."
Six state employee and retiree groups support SB 321. Our coalition includes the Texas Public Employees Association, Retired State Employees Association, AFSCME Texas Retirees, the Game Warden Peace Officers Association, the Association of Texas Liquor Enforcement Agents, and the Department of Public Safety Officers Association. We are fighting to make ERS actuarially sound, and TPEA is proud of their efforts.
Thank you,
Ann Bishop
Executive Director
Texas Public Employees Association
