Wow! You have the problem and the solution in the same issue of The Austin Chronicle! ["Public Notice: Total Garbage" and "Dope or a Rope," News, July 12.]
I was heartbroken to see the disaster we now have in the city’s single-stream recycling system, with our discarded items ending up in the ocean.
During a transition to a better mechanical sorting to prevent contamination, perhaps the city can use this problem as the opportunity to help all the people who will be reintegrated to society as a result of House Bill 1325. The working skills and work ethics learned while performing an important task will help them find and keep jobs in the future!
