Humans: Arrogant and Vain

No-kill across the board is the solution – put the onus where it belongs, on humans ["In the Doghouse," News, Feb. 8]. Why do humans think they have the right to abuse, discard animals? Whether domesticated to trust us, and help us, or as part of the rich diversity of the natural world, it is tragic and boggles the mind if one actually thinks about it. Shoot them, torture them, cage them, exploit them, slaughter them … and what consequence? This is precisely why it continues, and until harsh laws are put in place – and an abuser registry – the violence will continue, and whether passively or actively, humans will not evolve. Humans are the cause of the problems on the planet, the destructive species, and until all life is respected, the balance of nature will be in peril. Humans are arrogant and vain, not smart in the ways that nature functions, and it is imperative that this consciousness change. The ignorant scoffing is weakness, plain and simple.
