Low Lands

RECEIVED Sun., May 7, 2017

Dear Editor,
Thank you for the informative article on the Seton partnership ["Practice What You Preach," News, Jan. 20]. I came across it while researching Dell, Inc. Specifically I was looking for information regarding corporate support or opposition to the "Freedom to Serve Children Act," Texas' House Bill 3859.
I see now that Texas' problem with social issues is much, much deeper than a single act. The degree of social conservatism in Texas politics is astounding.
I have come away with the sense that I should begin shifting my business away from Texas-based suppliers. We're not a large company, but I can spread the word that Texas has both low taxes and a low sense of social responsibility.
Again, thank you for opening my eyes. It's a shame that the citizens of Austin are more concerned about their property taxes than women's health.
