Affect the Effects

RECEIVED Thu., March 16, 2017

Dear Editor,
I recently read the article titled “Naked City: Professors on Climate Change” from Feb. 24. It is great to see that climate change is being taken seriously, as far too often we are noticing more people putting off climate change because scientists do not agree on the exact numbers regarding the effects we are putting on our climate. However, it is important to note that while they may not agree on the exact numbers of these changes, we need to acknowledge that the general trends of what we are bringing our world to be [are] widely accepted. But rather than throwing facts and figures regarding climate change, we need to adopt a more personal approach that focuses on how it will affect specific communities in a way that resonates with them. By putting a monetary value on the effects we have, we are more likely to engage in a meaningful conversation that can truly affect the way we interact with the world.
